Raising the Bar

This trail is the most anticlimactic of all the trails, following a logging road down the mountain to a logging road, from which one either catches a pre-arranged ride, organized around the times the logging roads are open to the public, or one hikes on the road into Lewis Lake, or onward to a yet to be developed campsite. That said, it is also a possible access path for a day hike up to the Tin Hat.

A new logging road has changed how the road looks at the junction with the Tin Hat Main, just below the gate on the road to Giovanni Lake. This new logging road uses the first part of the access road to the Tin Hat.

Hiking up from just past the Lewis Lake turn off the Tin Hat Main, one follows a currently used, freshly built logging road off to the right for a few km, before it turns right and the access road continues straight ahead.

Coming down from the Tin Hat, the access road joins this fresh logging road, and follows it to the right, as it curves to the left and then heads straight for the Tin Hat Main. At the Tin Hat the turn to both Lewis Lake and KM 98, the continuation of the Sunshine Coast Trail, is a left turn, down the Tin Hat Main. KM 98 is very near mile marker 16 on the Tin Hat Main.
