	Wilderness:

	These trails are in a wilderness area that, though it does have human traffic, also serves as home for wildlife, such as bears and cougar. Every precaution needs to be taken, not to leave one's party vulnerable, and not to teach, especially bears, to identify humans as a source of food. Hang your food properly every night.

	Raising the Bar

The Haywire Bay Regional District Campground sign at 0 mins.	Past the sign, straight ahead is the shortest route. Turn left at the end. Turn right at end to the caretakers residence. But for the tour turn left here and walk against the traffic flow at 0.5 mins.	Groups campsites (this one is on the right) enable groups to meet (and everyone comes rain prepared, especially this weekend since rain is in the forecast at 1.4 mins.
The first single campsite on the left, borders on the lake inlet at 2.4 mins.	A look out the inlet to the lake at 2.9 mins.	Continuing down the campsite road towards the beach against the flow of one way traffic at 5.6 mins.
A view ahead to the beach and island at 7.1 mins.	A single campsite prepared well for the rain that will surely come at 7.5 mins.	Getting closer to the beach at 8.6 mins.
Looking further up the road against the traffic, around the corner from the beach entrance at 9.3 mins.	A single campsite with a helpfully position centre prop for the inevitable tarp at 10.3 mins.	Which look like this when used to provide cover at 10.6 mins.

This is not a necessary part of the trail, but does offer a well developed place for camping. One should reserve ahead, if one is set on staying here as the campground is often filled for the summer. The tour proceeds from the entrance sign, around the campground clockwise (where the one way vehicular traffic must proceed counter-clockwise). Powell Lake is noticeably low this year, but is now higher than it was a month ago, given the recent rains. This day was mostly cloudy with a few sunny breaks. Which is common enough.
