This trail from Mowat Bay to Haywire Bay traverses the lakeside climbing up over seemingly steep shoreline, while keeping the trail reasonably easy to navigate. My boys and I hiked this again in early June 2001. The noticeable difference from the other times hiking this trail is the lower lake level, that favourably improves the places one has access to the lake. A few places would offer swimming. Personally I would only stop at the point, and otherwise save any break time for Haywire Bay, or Inland Lake. At both of these places camping is possible, though Haywire would require preregistration during most summer months. Both sites are closed from October to May, and their access roads are blocked with closed barriers.

The trail takes about two and a half hours. Add time for heavy packs, subtract some time if you hike fast or do not stop for photos or lunch breaks. Starting at 55 metre (normal lake level for Powell Lake, the trail climbs to 170 metre, descends to 55 again, and climbs once again to about 65 metre before returning to near lake level.
