This trail is a coastal, low level, hike, from salt water start to viewpoints overlooking Desolation Sound, to terrific inlet coves, through an older growth forest, past an inland lake, ending at an inland lake. Though most written advice is to not hike the first 21.4 in one day, that is not impossible with just day packs for fast paced hikers. There is also the real option of hiking a circle either via water taxi from Lund to Sarah Point, and back to Wednesday Lake and then back to Lund (about 1.5 - 2 hours from Wednesday Lake) or (as a longer option) to continue on up to and past Manzanita Bluffs and then back into Lund.

The water taxi from Lund is more expensive this year with fuel going up. The quoted price for the trip was $70, which was reduced before the early appointment was firmly booked. That was for one person. The $70 would be more acceptable for a group.
